Pete Doherty On His Bassist Joining Liam Gallagher's Live Band

Liam Gallagher has reportedly signed up Pete Doherty‘s bassist Drew McConnell to play in his band on his upcoming solo tour.

McConnell is a longtime collaborator of Doherty, having played with him in Babyshambles and under various other guises. As well as having his own solo project Helsinki, he’s fronted the musical collective Mongrel with Jon McClure and members of Arctic Monkeys, as well as playing with Supergrass’ Danny Goffey’s solo project, Van Goffy.

Now, Pete Doherty has told the Daily Star that he’s experiencing “stressification on the band front, [with] Drew playing bass guitar for Liam Gallagher’s new tour.”

There has long been an ongoing feud between Doherty and Gallagher, and they have both fathered children with solo star and Kill City singer Lisa Moorish.

In 2005, Gallagher slammed Doherty – telling NME: “What does the word Libertine mean? Freedom! He’s in the corner doing smack with a helmet on his head. There’s nothing free about that. It’s nasty.”

Gallagher recently shared a photo from the recording studio, having said that rehearsals for his tour are ‘sounding dangerous‘. He revealed that his album will be called ‘As You Were‘, the first single will be called ‘Not For Sale‘, and he has vowed to sing Oasis songs ‘bigger and better than Noel‘.

Roger Daltrey Would Like Noel Gallagher To Take Charge Of Organising The Teenage Cancer Trust Concerts

The Who‘s Roger Daltrey has revealed that in a few years he’s hoping to ‘hand over the reigns’ of booking Teenage Cancer Trust gigs to ‘one of the younger mob’ – and he’s considering Noel Gallagher.

This year marks the 17th anniversary of Teenage Cancer Trust gigs being held at the Royal Albert Hall – seeing likes of Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Suede, Depeche Mode and many more all perform in aid of the charity. Daltrey and bandmate Pete Townsend have been involved in putting the gigs together every year. However, it looks like he’s thinking about passing the baton on to someone else in 2020.

“I’d like to do 20 years and that’d be enough for me,” Daltrey told NME. “I’ll probably hand it over to Noel [Gallagher] or someone. One of the younger mob.”

He continued: “I think in three years time, it’ll be time for me to hand over to er to find someone else to pick up my reigns.  I’m sure there’ll be someone be there to do it. I will warn them that it’s much more work than they’d think it is. But it’s the most rewarding work that you’ll ever do, not financially or in anything like that, but it fills you up with something money can’t buy. It’s amazing.”

Graham Coxon Praises Noel Gallagher's "Fine Voice"

The Blur guitarist went to see Gallagher support The Who last night and said he was in "fine voice".

Graham Coxon has praised Noel Gallagher's acoustic set at the Royal Albert Hall last night (30 March).

The Blur guitarist went to watch The Who's Teenage Cancer Trust gig, where he saw his former Britpop rival Gallagher play support.

Taking to Twitter, the Coffee And TV rocker wrote: "Noel was in fine voice and the who were brilliantz.. nite."

Noel Gallagher's set included Oasis favourites, such as Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in anger, which was captured by Radio X's very own Gordon Smart.

The praise from the Blur man will no doubt act as fighting talk for Noel's estranged brother Liam, who vowed to sing Don't Look Back In Anger "bigger" and "better" when he embarks on his solo tour.

Noel Gallagher Believes Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City Revolution Is Heading In The Right Direction

Noel Gallagher has confessed his love for John Stones and believes Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City revolution is heading in the right direction.

City began the season on fire, with Guardiola’s new-look side registering 10 straight victories that shot them to the top of the Premier League table.

Progress since then has been mixed – but Gallagher says he has every faith in Guardiola’s ability to turn City into one of Europe’s top sides and believes the quality of their attacking football is evidence of that.

“The style we play is amazing, it’s brilliant,” he said. “Stones is a class defender and I love him.

“Most of the jigsaw pieces are in place now and Pep’s just got to tinker with it.

“It might take a couple of windows but he’ll get it right.

“I think we’re really close to being a great team. If you look at the Liverpool game and Monaco before that, we take the chances we create, we’re sailing through and we’re still up there.

“But it’s small margins, innit? I think next season’s gonna be vastly different.

“We played brilliantly against Liverpool and could and should have won it – and there’s flashes of brilliance.

“Once he gets another couple of transfer windows I think we’ll be alright. I’m excited about next season, for sure.”

Gallagher has also been impressed by the impact Leroy Sane has had since his emergence as one of Guardiola’s most trusted stars.

After a slow start, his goal against Arsenal in December has been the catalyst for vastly improved form and he is now one of the Premier League’s most exciting young players.

With seven goals in his last 14 games, Gallagher says he's already proving a bargain.

"Sane’s brilliant," he said. "It’s all going in the right direction He’s coming in first six or seven games and we were all wondering whether he was cut out for this and Guardiola was saying give him time and he’s one of the best now.

"He looks like a bargain.

"It’s been a good start for Guardiola because we can still win the FA Cup and things are going in the right direction.

"We’re not doing great but we’re not doing bad."

Damon Albarn On Working With Noel Gallagher On Gorillaz New Album

The Oasis legend sings backing vocals on We Got The Power, which features on the Gorillaz new Humanz LP.

Damon album says it was "fantastic" working in the studio with Noel Gallagher for Gorillaz's new Humanz album, which is set for release on 28 April 2017.

The Oasis man provided backing vocals on the animated band's new track, We Got The Power, which features Savages' Jehnny Beth.

Asked about recording with Gallagher, Albarn told Radio X's Gordon Smart: "Its really great, he’s fantastic in the studio. Its nice when you see how someone goes about their business. He’s great."

Talking about the process involved in making the track, the Blur frontman revealed: "At one point this song had Graham (Coxon), Noel and me on it and it was sort of heading slightly in the wrong direction.

"It was becoming almost retro in its sort of spirit and way too rocky for this record so I kind of stripped it right back down again. We play it slightly different live then how it is on the record. It’s sort of the song that comes on during the final titles of a film. The climax. I thought Jehnny would take a bit of the testosterone off."

Liam Gallagher Consoled Gareth Southgate Following Euro 96 Penalty Miss

Gareth Southgate was consoled by the unlikely figure of Liam Gallagher following his infamous penalty miss against Germany in Euro 96.

His former Aston Villa team-mate Andy Townsend revealed the story on the Monday Night Club with Mark Chapman.

Townsend, who was commentating on the game, went to the players' lounge to support his colleague after the match. Before the Ireland international could get his words out, he was interrupted.

"Liam Gallagher appeared from nowhere", he said. "He says 'Hey Gareth don't *beep* worry about it because at least you had the *beep* to go up and take it, those other *beep*, they didn't want to *beep* know'".

Liam Gallagher Wants His Debut Album To 'Send You Mad'

The outspoken rock star’s on/off feud with his chart-topping sibling is legendary and this time he’s blasted Noel for supposedly playing up to his northern roots on a recent trip home to Manchester, England.

Liam insisted his older brother only wore his parka jacket in the city because the item of clothing is famous for being worn by the locals and Noel – who has lived in London for 20 years – is apparently keen to impress them.

Liam hit out on Twitter: “See the fake bombing about in his stone island again coz he’s in manc he’ll be back in his Prada 1st thing tmorrow LG X”

The 44-year-old star then slammed Noel’s performance in his hometown and claimed he is more talented than the High Flying Birds frontman.

He wrote on the micro-blogging site: “Opening with Don’t look back in anger ending with Rocking chair bout time they were done proper LG not for sale.

“To all you NG fanboys I can and will sing any song he wrote bigger better than him even if I was kicked in the b****x by a wood pigeon LG”

Liam ended his tirade by telling Noel’s loyal fans that he hopes his new album, ‘As You Were’, would send them “mad”.

Oasis split in 2009 just as the band was about to go on stage, and Liam has frequently criticised Noel in the years since, branding him a “yes man” and a “potato” last year.

Noel, on the other hand, admitted in 2015 that the last six months in the band were “f***ing awful”.

The 49-year-old star previously shared: “It was excruciating. Me and Liam had a massive, massive, massive fistfight three weeks before the world tour started.

“And fights like that in the past would always be easy to rectify but for some reason I wasn’t going to let it go this time. I was just like, ‘F**k this ****.’ And there was an atmosphere all the way around the world.”

Liam Gallagher Wants To Make A Sequel For Oasis' 'Supersonic'

Liam Gallagher may not be looking to rejoin Oasis anytime soon but he's still keen to keep his glory days alive.

Last year, the 44-year-old teamed up with his brother Noel to release Oasis documentary Supersonic - covering the launch of their career up to the height of their success in the mid 90s.

Now director Mat Whitecross has let slip Liam hopes to cash in on the film's success.

Chatting at the Empire Awards 2017 after picking up the award for Best Documentary, Mat said: "Liam and Noel Gallagher were really generous.

"Everything we asked for they gave us."

Revealing a second Oasis documentary could be just around he corner, he continued: "Liam said he wants to make a sequel.

"I don't know if he was joking or not."

Pausing, he added: "Actually after we cut Knebworth Liam and Noel both actually said they wanted to carry on."

On This Day In Oasis History...

'Falling Down' was a single released on March 9th 2009 by English rock band Oasis, featured on their 2008 seventh studio album Dig Out Your Soul. Written and sung by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher, it was released as the third single from the album and is also the final single released by the band with the digital release occurring a day earlier.

The song debuted at 10 in the UK Singles Chart.

"Falling Down" is the fifth Oasis single to be sung by Noel rather than Liam (not including "Lord Don't Slow Me Down"). It is also the second Oasis song to be used in a TV series (the first being "Half the World Away").

"Falling Down" posted a subtle improvement from its predecessor, "I'm Outta Time" on the UK Singles Chart, reaching #10 in its chart entry week. This was something of a return to form for the band, after "I'm Outta Time" charting at #12 made it the first Oasis single released in the UK to fail to reach the top 10 since "Shakermaker" in 1994.

Between the two releases the band had put out 22 singles which made the top 10.

However, it still showed a decline in the band's fortunes; from the release of "Whatever" at the end of 1994 until the release of "I'm Outta Time" the band had only had one single which failed to reach the top 4 in the charts, and that had been 2007's "Lord Don't Slow Me Down" which was only a minor promotional release and a non-album track and also download only.

The heavily compressed drum-rhythm and sense of disillusioned psychedelia bear a strong resemblance the Beatles song "Tomorrow Never Knows", being cited as Noel's finest effort so far to emulate the atmosphere of that song.

An excerpt of the B-side song "Those Swollen Hand Blues" appears at the end of "Mucky Fingers", second track of Oasis' 2005 album Don't Believe the Truth.

The lyric: "Catch the wheel that breaks the butterfly" references the quotation: "Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?" from Alexander Pope's "Epistle to Dr Arbuthnot".

The song was released as downloadable content for the video game Guitar Hero: World Tour on 29 January 2009.

The song was used in the opening sequence for the Production I.G anime Eden of the East, which first aired on Fuji TV's noitaminA timeslot on April 9, 2009.
