Muse Cite Oasis' 'Live Forever' In Reponse To Noel Gallagher's Jibe

Drummer Dom says he's switching to real ones after "Noel's apparent U-turn"

Muse have cited Oasis' track 'Live Forever' in response to Noel Gallagher's jibe at drummer Dom Howard for smoking electronic cigarettes at the Brits.

"Dom took Noel's lyrics 'I want to live I don't want to die', 'maybe I just want to breath' and 'you and I are gonna live forever' literally,” singer Matt Bellamy tweeted. "He's switching to real cigarettes based on Noel's apparent U-turn."

Gallagher recently said the Muse drummer was symbolic of an "instantly forgettable" Brit Awards night last month and the blandness of the music industry in general. "There are no characters left in the music business," he said. "When we first started going there was a healthy percentage of people, and we were all dirt-kickers from council estates, and we all couldn’t believe our luck that we were at the Brits. You go in now and everybody is a careerist. It’s very corporate, and you know what I’ve actually seen people doing at the Brits? Eating. I saw the drummer from Muse smoking an electronic cigarette. A cigarette with a battery in. I had to say to him: ‘Really? Really? Is that where you are at? Do me a favour, mate, either have a proper one outside, or don’t have one.’ It lit up green when he had a drag of it. Nonsense. He said that immortal line – ‘Oh you know how it is, mate’. And I said ‘I’m sorry, mate, I actually don’t.’"

Beady Eye Debut New Single At London Club Night

Liam Gallagher aired a brand new Beady Eye track from the band's forthcoming album at London club night This Feeling, which takes place at the Queen Of Hoxton pub.

Gallagher went to the club to see his Beady Eye bandmate, guitarist Andy Bell, DJing, and gave Bell the green light to play an unnamed track thought to be the band's next single.

“Liam made everyone’s night by shaking every hand in the venue and was on blistering form," said This Feeling organiser Mikey Jonns. "When he gave Andy and [Bell's DJ partner] Arveene the nod to play the new tune the place erupted!”

Tom Rowlett of the band Dexters heard the track. He said, "I was pretty fucked so memory a bit hazy, but it had a big brass section and Liam's vocals sounded massive, proper in-your-face psychedelic rock'n'roll. Sounding fuckin' massive, man, the whole place went off when it came on! Liam was amazing. They always say don't meet your heroes but he was brilliant – he pulled us into his VIP area, we had a few beers with him, he was buzzing off the new LP and so are we now!"

Former Kasabian guitarist Jay Mehler (pictured below), who has recently taken over as Beady Eye's bassist, was also in attendance. Mehler was drafted in following the departure of Jeff Wootton, who has left to go solo.

Bell and Arveene will be DJing at This Feeling Manchester at FAC251 on March 23, with The Sundowners playing live.

Beady Eye Enjoy Tear-Up At This Feeling

Liam Gallagher is a Jekyll and Hyde character – when he’s good, he’s very, very good – and you know the rest.

On Saturday night he was better than good, giving a masterclass in what a rock ’n’ roll frontman should be up to at the weekend.

The Beady Eye star and his bandmates enjoyed a tear-up at This Feeling – the best club night for guitar music in the country.

Liam posed for pictures, spent time with the new bands and was the last man to leave the Queen of Hoxton in East London.

As a treat for the punters who queued to get in he gave guitarist Andy Bell the green light to drop the band’s new single during his DJ set.

From what I hear it raised the roof – promising big things from their forthcoming second album.

The rockers also welcomed a new recruit after some Sky Sports-style transfer day action.

Kasabian guitarist Jay Mehler is taking over bass duties from Jeff Wooton who has gone solo.

With the Leicester lads in album writing mode, they shook hands and wished Jay – above with his girlfriend Lee who is Ringo Star’s daughter – the best of luck for the future.

Mike Jonns, who runs This Feeling, said: “Liam made everyone’s night by shaking every hand in the venue.”

Guitarist Andy and DJ partner Arveene will play This Feeling on March 23 at FAC251 in Manchester.

You never know which rock stars will show up on the guest list...

Noel Gallagher To Play Songs He's Never Played Before At Teenage Cancer Trust Concert

Noel Gallagher is set to play a brand new song and a number of Oasis songs he's never played before at his Teenage Cancer Trust concert that takes place at the Royal Albert Hall later this month.

Speaking to Sky Sports 'Fantasy Football Club' about playing new songs at the annual event he said.

"I might do one new song, I'm going to be doing songs I have never done before, but that's not to say they are new songs. I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do yet,  I'm not doing the same thing as I done, I did eleven gigs in London last year so I cant really get away with the same set.

He also spoke about collaborating with Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon at the event.

The former Oasis man said "Damon and Graham are going on before me doing something, they told me what they are doing the other night but I cant remember what they said. But it's special though, unique".

When asked about collaborating with the pair on stage he said "We spoke about it the other night at the Brits, but I cant remember what we decided we were going to do, cause Champagne was involved".

On This Day In Oasis History...

'Falling Down' was a single released on March 9th 2009 by English rock band Oasis, featured on their 2008 seventh studio album Dig Out Your Soul. Written and sung by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher, it was released as the third single from the album and is also the final single released by the band with the digital release occurring a day earlier.

The song debuted at 10 in the UK Singles Chart.

"Falling Down" is the fifth Oasis single to be sung by Noel rather than Liam (not including "Lord Don't Slow Me Down"). It is also the second Oasis song to be used in a TV series (the first being "Half the World Away").

"Falling Down" posted a subtle improvement from its predecessor, "I'm Outta Time" on the UK Singles Chart, reaching #10 in its chart entry week. This was something of a return to form for the band, after "I'm Outta Time" charting at #12 made it the first Oasis single released in the UK to fail to reach the top 10 since "Shakermaker" in 1994.

Between the two releases the band had put out 22 singles which made the top 10.

However, it still showed a decline in the band's fortunes; from the release of "Whatever" at the end of 1994 until the release of "I'm Outta Time" the band had only had one single which failed to reach the top 4 in the charts, and that had been 2007's "Lord Don't Slow Me Down" which was only a minor promotional release and a non-album track and also download only.

The heavily compressed drum-rhythm and sense of disillusioned psychedelia bear a strong resemblance the Beatles song "Tomorrow Never Knows", being cited as Noel's finest effort so far to emulate the atmosphere of that song.

An excerpt of the B-side song "Those Swollen Hand Blues" appears at the end of "Mucky Fingers", second track of Oasis' 2005 album Don't Believe the Truth.

The lyric: "Catch the wheel that breaks the butterfly" references the quotation: "Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?" from Alexander Pope's "Epistle to Dr Arbuthnot".

The song was released as downloadable content for the video game Guitar Hero: World Tour on 29 January 2009.

The song was used in the opening sequence for the Production I.G anime Eden of the East, which first aired on Fuji TV's noitaminA timeslot on April 9, 2009.

Hurts’ Adam Anderson Tells Noel Gallagher And Jake Bugg To Leave One Direction Alone!

Adam Anderson has spoken out in defence of One Direction…surprisingly.

The Hurts star felt compelled to stick up for the X Factor singers, after they came under fire from all sides this month, following their win of the Global Success gong at the Brit Awards.

Jake Bugg branded the band ‘terrible’, Paloma Faith said they do not deserve to be compared to The Beatles, Matthew Fox hates the fact that his daughter is a 1D fan and Noel Gallagher is proud that he and Damon Albarn ignored the boys at the awards ceremony.

Anderson was sitting next to the fab fivesome at The Brits and he told Gigwise that he thinks people need to give them an easier time. He explained:

“I think they seem like decent lads and they’re having fun. If you were 19 and in their position then you would have fun.

“I think they should be left alone really. It’s good for the equilibrium of pop to have boybands.”

Adam thinks it’s a good thing for the UK music industry to have local artists selling well around the globe and after all, One Direction boast the third and fourth best selling albums in the world in 2012.

Anderson added: “At the end of the day they [One Direction] are a big export for music in this country. If One Direction and Adele raise the profile for British acts then fair enough.”

He thinks perhaps Brits organisers could have planned their ceremony better and added some different styled acts to the lineup. He thinks had they done that the event wouldn’t have been branded ‘boring.’

“I think there was an absence of a certain type of band which was the problem, but that’s just timing.

“It is what it is. It was still a good laugh and a good party afterwards. You make your own fun sometimes.”

Noel Gallagher's A Fan Of David Icke

Noel Gallagher doesn’t suffer fools, so fans will fall off their stools to hear he’s still an admirer of David Icke.

The High Flying Birds pal Russell Brand had the pair on his US show Brand X, filmed in London on Thursday night.

Noel said he was a fan of Icke’s and had been to his lectures with Brand.

But he went quiet when Russell and Icke started rattling on about why the pundit believes the world’s leaders are really “giant lizards” and we can only see “0.0005 per cent of reality”.

Noel interrupted to ask Russ the only sensible question of the discussion – “Can I go?”
Russell replied: “Stay to the end, don’t be an a***hole. If he goes to the pub I’m turning this thing into an orgy after I ask my mum to leave.”

It didn’t turn out that way. After the show Brand was mobbed by female fans, while Noel handed £50 to a bearded beggar. The Oasis star then headed to the Groucho club and partied with Matt Smith.

You’d need a pint after a night with Icke.

Noel Gallagher: 'Was Justin Bieber Snorting Coke Off Prostitutes?'

Noel Gallagher insists that Justin Bieber's two hour concert delay definitely does not make him rock 'n' roll.

In fact, the former Oasis star says that Justin Bieber is less rock 'n' roll than his cat - although if any cat is rock 'n' roll, it's going to be Noel Gallagher's.

According to The Sun, Noel said, "Is it rock ‘n’ roll to be two hours late? It depends on what he was doing in those two hours. Was he snorting coke off prostitutes? Or was he playing bridge?"

When he was told that Justin had been reportedly playing videogames, he responded, "That’s not very rock ’n’ roll, is it? My cat sounds more rock ’n’ roll that that."

Noel finished his rant against the star by saying, "I just know his name - Justin. Whatever. I don’t know anything about him. I know people really f**king hate him, don’t they."
