On October 29th 2002, Noel Gallagher played an acoustic set set at the Fairplay charity gig at London's Astoria to raise money for the Make Trade Fair campaign.

Below is the NME.COM's review of the night, and a number of videos.

NOEL GALLAGHER and CHRIS MARTIN teamed up to perform a cover of Smiths' 'STOP ME IF YOU THINK YOU'VE HEARD THIS ONE BEFORE', as part of an amazing night of collaborations at the LONDON ASTORIA.

As previously reported, 'Fair Play' (October 29) was organised by Emily Eavis, the daughter of Glastonbury founder Michael. The show was intended to raise cash and awareness for Oxfam, helping to raise the profile of their Make Trade Fair campaign.

The bill featured Lamb, Idlewild, Noel Gallagher and Coldplay, who were billed as featuring 'special guests'.

After a solo set from Gallagher, which featured the likes of 'Wonderwall', 'Slide Away' and 'Married With Children', Coldplay took to the stage, and performed a handful of their own songs.

They were then joined by Ms Dynamite for a cover of  'Three Little Birds', and her own songs 'It Takes More' and 'Dy-Na-Mi-Tee'.

She was then replaced by Noel, who performed a duet of Coldplay's hit single 'Yellow', and Oasis' 'Live Forever'. During the duets, Martin appeared overcome, telling the audience that it was one of the best moments of his life. Their set also included a cover of [a]' 'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before', a song that originally featured on the legendary Manchester group's 1987 album, 'Strangeways, Here We Come'.

Noel Gallagher's set ran:
'Talk Tonight'
'Slide Away'
'Wonderwall'
'Don't Look Back In Anger'
'Married With Children'

Coldplay played:
'In My Place'
'Don't Panic'
'The Scientist'
'It Takes More' (with Ms Dynamite)
'Three Little Birds' (with Ms Dynamite)

Lord Don't Slow Me Down is a rockumentary film, looking back on British band Oasis' Don't Believe the Truth world tour which took place from May 2005 to March 2006. The film is directed by Baillie Walsh. It went platinum in the UK. The DVD was released on October 29th 2007.

Pre-release
A handful of fans-only private screenings took place around the world with the world premiere of the film at the Directors Guild Theater in New York City on November 4, 2006 as part of the CMJ Film Festival. The UK television premiere was on Channel 4 on November 19, at 11:50pm, although it was a heavily edited version with approximately 40 minutes cut from the original 95 minute version. The film was unveiled to coincide with Oasis' compilation album Stop the Clocks, released on November 20, 2006. A preview of the film was included on the Let There Be Love DVD single, released in November 2005.

The film features a new Oasis song also called "Lord Don't Slow Me Down", written by Noel Gallagher and recorded during the Don't Believe the Truth sessions, Gallagher described it as being "one of the best things, like The Who, The Yardbirds and the Jeff Beck Group combined, and it's got two drum solos on it!". He has also said that his girlfriend thought it was the only Oasis song you could dance to. The song was left off Don't Believe the Truth because Gallagher felt that including it would have meant he'd have been singing too many songs on the record. Italian footballer Alessandro Del Piero also appears in the video signing a shirt for noel.

The DVD set contents:

Disc One:
Documentary tour film Lord Don’t Slow Me Down in stereo and surround sound.
Bonus audio commentary featuring the members of the band.
A Noel Gallagher Q&A session with the fans filmed in New York in 2006.

Disc Two:
Oasis live at City of Manchester Stadium on 2nd July 2005 in HD with stereo and surround sound.

Oasis Canvas Painting Stolen From Manchester Art Gallery In Daylight Raid

A unique painting of iconic rock band Oasis has been stolen from an art gallery during a daylight raid.

Police said thieves swiped the black and white canvas work by artist Olga Tsarevska Lomax from the Art Gallery and Gift Shop in Bury, Greater Manchester, at 5pm yesterday.

The offenders smashed a window before grabbing the 80cm x 100cm painting, which features each band member including brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.

It's also inscribed with 'otz2013' on the bottom right-hand corner.

PC Katherine Gosling said: "Quite what the masterplan behind this theft is I don't know, but a local business has been broken into and a one of a kind piece of artwork taken.

"This was the only piece taken and some might say we are therefore looking for an Oasis fan - similarly it may have been stolen to order.

"Regardless we are keen to find it and return it."

It comes as reports of a possible Oasis reunion have been spreading like wildfire after frontman Liam announced his band Beady Eye had split up.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 08000 555 111.

A picture of the painting can be found by clicking here.

Noel Gallagher: “Space Jazz? Disco? My New High Flying Birds Album Is Very Eclectic!”

Noel Gallagher has spoken exclusively to Q about his new album, Chasing Yesterday.

Speaking to Andrew Perry in our new issue, Q341 out today (28 October), the former Oasis man says his self-produced second High Flying Birds record is hard to pin down sound-wise.

“Space jazz? I’ve gone there. There’s more than a couple of sax solos on the record,” he admits.

“I could play you two of those tracks with saxophones, and you’d go, ‘Wow it’s a fucking space jazz record!’ Then I could pick you tow other tracks that have got a disco feel, and you’d think it was but there’s rockers on there, and emotional songs that you would associate with me. It’s very eclectic.”

Get Q341 now for the full interview, including more on the album, his relationship with Liam these days and his reaction to Oasis reunion rumours.

Noel Gallagher Silences Oasis Reunion Rumours

Noel Gallagher insists an Oasis reunion is “not on the cards” following the break-up of his brother Liam’s band Beady Eye.

He silenced rumours the Britpop band, which formed in 1991, would get back together calling it a “backwards step”.

The singer-songwriter, 47, who formed his own band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds five years ago says: “It’s not on the cards. From where I sit now it’s purely a creative thing.

“I really, really enjoy where I am with my music and where I am with my band. I wouldn’t be willing to give that up for anything.”

While Noel says the question is a source of irritation for him he revealed his other pet peeve – being mistaken for his moody baby brother, who’s 42.

“It annoys me about as much as when I’m introduced to people as Liam, which happens on a regular basis,” he said.

“I was at a party the other night and loads of posh people were going, ‘Liam, how are you doing?’ It’s a common occurrence,” he tells Q Magazine.

However unlikely the prospects of the two getting back together, the diehard Manchester City football supporter says there is one thing that would make him reconsider: “I’d rather reform Oasis than wear a Manchester United shirt. I wouldn’t do that, not even if I was mentally disturbed.”

And pigs could fly.

Beady Eye Announce Split

Liam Gallagher has tweeted that his post-Oasis band have called it a day. He wrote: "Beady Eye are no longer. Thanks for all your support."

Beady Eye featured former Oasis members Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Chris Sharrock, plus former Kasabian man Jay Mehler.

Their first album, Different Gear Still Speeding, was released in February 2011 and a follow-up, BE, appeared in June of last year. The band opened the Other Stage at Glastonbury 2013.

It's not clear from this brief statement whether Liam will now become a solo artist or whether it means he won't be working with the former Beady Eye members again.

Anyone expecting the imminent reunion of Oasis should bear in mind that Noel Gallagher has just announced his second album with the High Flying Birds, Chasing Yesterday, which will be released in March next year.

Liam And Noel Gallagher On 'Good Terms'

The brothers and former Oasis bandmates fell out in 2009 and are believed to have refrained from speaking to each other ever since but Noel has now revealed they have begun building bridges.

According to The Sun newspaper, he told the December issue of Q magazine: ''We're on good terms, as good as we can be.''

However, contrary to increasing speculation that they're planning to reunite for the 20th anniversary of Oasis' second album '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?', Noel insists there is no reunion on the cards.

He added: ''I'm f**king looking forward to spoiling everybody's party next year. We won't be doing it.''

Meanwhile, the 47-year-old rocker recently revealed that he is still good friends with his former bandmates Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock - who joined his brother Liam's band Beady Eye after their falling out.

He said previously: ''I was with some of Beady Eye the other night and they are still plugging away. They're good lads. We all got completely s**t-faced and we talked nonsense for hours. It was good.''

Liam Gallagher is set to make a massive comeback next month as he performs with The Who’s backing band for an epic Teenage Cancer Trust gig.

Liam is one of 15 iconic performers who will take to the stage during the star studded night.

He will also be reunited with Zak Starkey, 49, who used to play for Oasis but is now in The Who.

And he’s lined up to sing a cover of My Generation which Oasis used to sing at their live gigs.

A show insider said: “It’s been a hell of a year for Liam, he’s had a lot to get through and a lot on his mind.

“He’s been planning his comeback for a long time and he jumped at the chance of doing this.

“It’s going to be him on his own with The Who’s backing band but he’s got his old mate Starkey there to help him on.

“And he’s planning on doing My Generation in tribute of The Who. The event is set to raise millions for Teenage Cancer Trust and organisers are hoping it will be a sell out.”
