Noel Gallagher Wants The Rubberbandits As His Backing Band

Noel Gallagher has declared that he wants the Rubberbandits to be his backing band.

Gallagher was being interviewed on the Dermot and Dave show on Today FM this afternoon when he unexpectedly announced an affection for the Limerick rappers.

The singer – who’s currently touring with his latest act High Flying Birds - told the interviewers "I would like to have those guys the Rubberbandits as my backing band. I just stumbled across one of their things on the internet, and God it made me laugh so hard".

Pressed for further detail, Gallagher added "I like their song about Danny Dyer".

The rappers have yet to respond to Gallagher’s offer.

During the interview, Gallagher also said that anyone who claims not to like U2′s The Joshua Tree was a “liar”.

Noel Gallagher On His New Album 'Chasing Yesterday'

Noel Gallagher has said that his new album 'Chasing Yesterday' is full of "songs that make you kind of punch in the air while crying a little bit".

The description of the record, which is released on March 2, features in a list of 10 things to know about 'Chasing Yesterday' which features in this week's issue of NME, which is on newsstands now and available digitally.

Speaking about the album, Gallagher said that triumphant yet emotional songs are what he feels "most comfortable writing". He added: "It's the Irish in me, that's what we do. We're never happy. We rage joy. Even 'Some Might Say', for instance, is a very melancholic Irish kind of anthem."

Gallagher also said that he had to recruit Johnny Marr to appear on 'Ballad of The Mighty I' because he doesn't have "the funk" like Marr does. "I tried to get him on the last record because there's a bit in 'AKA...What A Life!' that I thought needed a bit of funk, and he's got the funk, but he couldn't do it, so I had to do it. And I was embarrassed doing it because I haven't got the funk."

Noel Gallagher Is "Embarrassed" He Can't Drive

Noel Gallagher is "embarrassed" he can't drive.

The 47-year-old musician feels ashamed that he is yet to passing his driving test despite nearly reaching the age of 50, but also often feels relieved he doesn't have to endure the stress of being behind the wheel.

He told Q magazine: "When I was first in Oasis and they started sending limousines. I thought, 'This is the life.'

"But coming here today, sitting in the back of a car, I thought, 'How can I not drive? I am nearly 50. That's f***ing embarrassing.'

"But then something will happen on the road, and I'll think, 'Thank God I don't drive, because I would have definitely killed that bloke.' "

While Noel cannot drive to the shops himself, he is not a fan of shopping online for goods unlike his wife Sara MacDonald, because he needs to physically see and touch the products he is purchasing.

The former Oasis guitarist explained: "What does she expect me to do? Ocado? My missus uses Ocado, but I'm not having it. The whole ethos of shopping online is wrong. Maybe it's a working class thing, but you've got to hold it in your hands."

Noel releases 'Chasing Yesterday', his second album with his band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, in March.

Noel Gallagher Blames U.S. Sitcom Friends For Britain's Creeping Coffee Culture

Noel Gallagher blames 1990's U.S. sitcom Friends for Britain's creeping coffee culture.

He said "Let's be honest, we live in ridiculous times. I mean, who'd spend the best part of a tenner on two coffees? I blame it all on Friends. Beautiful, successful people sat around in a coffee shop - not a pub, wrong to start with. That made all this acceptable."

Liam Gallagher Is Trying His Hand At Cooking Lentil Stews And Soups

Liam Gallagher has started going on jogs and cooking lentil stews and soups in an attempt to lead a healthier lifestyle in 2015.

Liam Gallagher is trying his hand at cooking lentil stews and soups in a bid to eat healthier in 2015.

The former Beady Eye frontman has been getting a helping hand from his girlfriend Debbie Gwyther in the kitchen in an attempt to learn some new recipes and as well as gorging on some nutritious home-cooked meals, the 42-year-old star has also been exercising hard.

A source said: ''Liam's never cooked before but it's helped him relax. His girlfriend Debbie Gwyther has been showing him the ropes. He's been having a go at lentil stews, stir-fries and soups.

''It's all part of his plan to get healthy in 2015. He's been getting fit by going on jogs.''

The ex-Oasis frontman's new healthy living regime is said to be helping him deal with the two court battles he is currently embroiled in - a child-support hearing with Liza Ghorbani over their 22-month-old daughter, who he has never met, and a divorce settlement with his second wife Nicole Appleton.

The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''He's trying not to let the stress of everything get on top of him.''
However, Liam's latest healthy eating stint is certainly not the first time he has taken to the kitchen to cook up a nutritious storm as he used to refer to himself as the 'Salmon King' while out and about and previously revealed his favourite dish to knock up was salmon and stir fry.

Speaking in 2009, he said: ''I'm always banging away at the fish man. I used to really dig sardines, but now I'm on the salmon. The royalty cheques have started rolling in again. I'm on the salmon big time. My top three fish are salmon at number one, sea bass at two and sardines are third.

''My number one dish is f***ing salmon and stir-fry. You need to pre-heat your oven for 10 minutes. F***ing loads of soy sauce. Get your salmon wrapped up in some tin foil with a fold in the end. Stick it in the oven for 15 minutes. Take it out, bit of stir-fry, loads more soy sauce. F***ing top dish, no mess, sweet!''

Noel Gallagher Offered Lifetime Supply Of Tennent’s Lager

Noel Gallagher has been offered a lifetime supply of Tennent’s Lager after the rocker declared his love for the drink during a night of partying in the Highlands.

The ex-Oasis star and his Scots wife Sara MacDonald joined pal Kate Moss and a host of other A-list celebrities to celebrate the 40th birthday of former supermodel Rose Ferguson with a Burns Supper at the Banffshire hotel on Saturday.

And yesterday morning Noel appeared at the doors of Craigellachie Hotel clutching a pint of Tennent’s Lager and declared: "I just stuck to the Tennent's Lager. It's the best beer in the world - I'd like a lifetime's supply".

The other guests managed to almost wipe out the hotel’s supply of whisky the night before.

Noel liked it so much, he even organised his own carry-out, taking home a pint when his chauffeured car picked him up at the end of the night.

In response, Tennent’s has now offered to set up a bar within the singer's home, opening a dedicated 'Live Forever' hotline for the singer so that deliveries can be made whenever he runs out.

Jane Cannon, Marketing Manager for Tennent's Lager said: "Some Might Say it's the ultimate rock and roll gift for Noel - his very own bar, which will always be fully stocked. We've nicknamed it the 'Lager Supernova' and I'm sure it will help to host more than a few epic parties once it's installed."

Last year, Katy Perry ordered crates of Tennent's Lager to be sent to her record label in LA.

Noel Gallagher looks like he lived up to the boozy reputation of Robert Burns by partying the night away in a Banffshire hotel.

Noel Gallagher Says No One's Actually Said If U2's Album Is A Sh*t Record Or A Great Record

Noel Gallagher has been speaking to Q Magazine about U2's album 'Songs Of Innocence' that was automatically downloaded into people's iTunes for free last year.

He said "No one's actually said the U2 album is a shit record or a great record. All they've talked about is the delivery. I think it's one of their better albums, and Every Breaking Wave - what a tune. But the way it was delivered is not something I'd ever do. For me albums are all about the anticipation. Personally, I don't want to live in a world where, 'Bang! There it is. Done.'"

He added "Me and Bono have talked about this endlessly and agreed to disagree. I don't agree with free music. I'd be quite happy to put an extra pound on my new album. U2 can turn around now and say that 750 million people or whatever it is - have their new album. But I would rather 750 people had my album in their hearts. To me that's fundamentally more important."

Q Magazine goes on sale on Tuesday.
