Mumford & Sons love Liam Gallagher despite him insulting the band.

Frontman Marcus Mumford thinks the Beady Eye singer is "always really funny", and was glad to be recognised by the legendary musician even though he slammed the group for being boring.

Liam famously said the band - which also includes Ted Dwayne, Winston Marshall and Ben Lovett - "look like fucking Amish people, as rock and roll as a blue rinse".

Marcus, 26, was amused, however, and told Q magazine: "I fucking love him. The fact that we're on his radar is awesome."

One Direction's Louis Tomlinson Calls Noel Gallagher A Knob!

One Direction's Louis Tomlinson has responded to Noel Gallagher telling the band their music can ‘f*** off’ by branding him a ‘k**b’.

However the singer revealed he would only ‘expect’ Gallagher to be a ‘k**b’. ‘At the end of the day you kind of want Noel Gallagher to be a k**b,’ he told British GQ in the controversial new issue of the men’s monthly.

 ‘You expect him to be a k**b. That’s cool in a way,’ he goes on. ‘He says s**t like that but that’s definitely what we would expect from someone like him. He’s predictable.’

 Bandmate Harry Styles also saw the abuse from the former Oasis star as something of a compliment. ‘It’s easy to have a pop at the kids from X Factor,’ the floppy haired star said, adding: ‘Thing is, his kids are coming to our show.’

Pretty Green gears up for a colourful season with its Spring/ Summer 2014 collection. With a backdrop of psychedelic colours and influences of the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour the collection heads off on a 60’s vibe.

Other icons include the introduction of the Walrus badge used throughout the range, paying homage to the music that inspired the film.

The classic ‘Fool on the hill’ jacket, famously worn by McCartney, with its strong military style is lifted with the use of Italian nylon to give it a lightweight feel. The stadium jacket speaks for itself with detailing reminiscent of the on stage pieces as worn by Liam himself but with undertones of all things sixties. The Harrison denim jacket, a favourite every season, has a heavy duty washed out and worn look like its been on the road for a while. The highlight outerwear piece is the leather ‘Egg man’ jacket given a second skin feel yet with a hardware edge.

Has Gary Glitter Made £1million From Oasis Song 'Hello'?

Pop paedo Gary Glitter has raked in £1million of royalties after Oasis used a clip of one of his hits, it was claimed last night.

The shamed glam rocker will “continue to earn pots of cash for many years” from Oasis track Hello.

It is the opening song on (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? and includes the lyric ‘Hello, hello, it’s good to be back’, from Glitter’s 1973 hit Hello, Hello, I’m back again’.

The 1995 Oasis album has sold 22 million worldwide.

Glitter, 69 — real name Paul Gadd — gets a payment for each album sold, or when the song is played on the radio or internet.

He is entitled to the cash as he is still credited as the co-writer of Hello — despite receiving an estimated £200,000 for copyright infringement after taking legal action against Oasis in 1999.

Music lawyer Craig Brookes said Hello could have earned Glitter £1million — on top of £300,000 a year or more from royalties linked to his back catalogue of songs.

He said: “It’s distasteful, but sadly he is legally entitled to the money — despite being an awful human being.” Glitter was jailed for four months in 1999 for downloading child porn. In 2006, he was caged in Vietnam for molesting two girls. He served almost three years.

He was also quizzed by cops investigating paedophile Jimmy Savile. Last night the Performing Rights Society said it would continue to collect royalties for Glitter, one of its members.

Noel Gallagher And Damon Albarn Are “Like Best Mates Now”

Former Britpop adversaries Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn are best buddies now, according to Blur bassist Alex James.

Speaking to Irish radio host Ray D'Arcy, Alex James said: "Ironically Noel and Damon are like best mates now. They go off and smoke cigars together. I think we realised we we're all on the same side eventually."

Damon and Noel had a rather rocky relationship (to put it lightly) in the 90s, as they were both the figureheads of Blur and Oasis respectively, two of the largest bands in the UK at the time. Noel famously said that he hoped Damon would "catch AIDs and die", and Damon accused both Noel and his brother Liam Gallagher of being bullies. However, the pair have buried the hatchet and even joined each other onstage earlier this year for a performance of Blur's 'Tender' - although Noel couldn't do so without getting one last dig in, saying that he only offered to join in because the song was "easy to play on guitar".

James also spoke of Blur's break up and subsequent reunion, saying: "It was 2003 when Blur really kind of stopped. And it had been 15 years of us doing the same thing, just the four of us. That's a long time. I think we just all needed to go off and do other things. We've all worked with other people. So when we come back to play together I think we do it just because we want to – there's no pressure… It's actually the best thing we ever did, splitting up."

He continued: "Back in 2009 when we got back together, they were the best shows we'd ever done. And I think we all thought that was a good place to leave it, maybe. Then we got the call to do this big show last summer to mark the end of the Olympics and I think we all felt we can’t really say no to that. It's such an honour to be asked. And it was so brilliant, we thought what's not to like?"

Parlour Flames Interview

This summer’s Nozstock festival will almost be a homecoming gig for Vinny Perculiar.

Vinny Perculiar is the pseudonym for Alan Wilkes, a singer-songwriter and poet who has been based in Manchester for nearly twenty years.

But Vinny, who has worked with former band members of the Smiths, Aztec Camera and The Fall, was born in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. He has famously been christened as the “Tony Hancock of Pop” by Uncut Magazine, and has regularly appeared at Glastonbury. Growing up, Perculiar was influenced by not only music artists such as David Bowie, David Burn and Roxy Music, but also writers such as Charles Bukowski and Jack Kerouac.

Noel Gallagher Meets Up With Russell Brand And Morrissey In LA

Russell Brand should have guessed what he’d be in for meeting up with Noel Gallagher and Morrissey.

He tweeted this snap on a night out in LA, and wrote: “Victimized by heroes. Me with Moz and Noel G. Quite badly bullied.”

He’d help himself by turning up without the beads and waistcoat.

Strange reaction from Morrissey – the closest his mouth has ever been to a smile.

Russell Brand Would Want A 'Taxidermied Noel Gallagher' On Desert Island

Russell Brand has told BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs programme that if he were to become stranded he'd want a stuffed Noel Gallagher as his luxury item.

When asked by presenter Kirsty Young what item he’d want with him to make his life more bearable, Brand asked: "You can't take a person, can you? I can't take Noel Gallagher as a luxury item, as a minstel?" Young replied: "You could take him stuffed." Brand then said: "That’s the perfect thing. I'd like a taxidermied Noel Gallagher, perhaps somehow misrepresented – like wearing one of Liam’s jackets."

Later he added: "I've got my stuffed Noel Gallagher to worship and dress up, if I want to. I can do what I like to him. It’ll be a mockery of that man on that island."

Noel Gallagher: Love Is... Lending Your Best Trainers

When the Oasis guitarist gave up drugs he need something else to obsess about - and began collecting adidas trainers.

What do you give a millionaire rock star who wants for nothing? The answer, it would appear, is a pair of trainers. And Noel Gallagher likes trainers. A lot. So much, in fact, that they helped fill the void when he kicked his drug habit more than a decade ago. The singer spent years, and a small fortune, on cocaine before quitting the drug in 1998, replacing it with a new fix.

"When I gave up drugs I had to obsess about something, and I'm not into cars, not into jewellery and all that kind of thing, and I had loads of guitars, so I set off on a quest to collect adidas trainers." Adidas was a central part of the Oasis look, along with a Beatles mop of hair and Lambretta jackets. For the young Gallagher brothers, the sports brand symbolised youth culture.

And for Noel and Liam, growing up in Burnage, Manchester without much money meant resorting to crime. "We weren't really in the market for the good gear when we were lads. We were on the dole. We had nothing, so what we had that was nice was mostly shoplifted."

Years later, with the pair selling millions of records and playing to sold-out stadiums as Oasis, Gallagher admits he would spend hours scouring sports shops for trainers instead of sound-checking and doing interviews. "I had silly amounts – you couldn't open a cupboard without 20 pairs of adidas trainers falling out." And he laughs as he admits trying to hide his trainers from his wife by having two pairs in each box.

He ended up with more than 100 pairs of trainers, but several years ago decided to scale back his collection. "I kept the best ones back, I've probably got about 20 or 30 real vintage pairs, and I put the rest back out there – I gave them to charity shops. Funnily enough when I go to Camden market I still see some of my pairs there and I've been very tempted to buy them back."

We are talking ahead of an adidas Spezial exhibition organised by his friend Gary Aspden, a consultant to the company. Opening at the Hoxton Gallery, London on Friday, the exhibition will feature more than 600 pairs of trainers – from the late 1960s to today. Gallagher has lent some of his collection, including his most prized pair of "adidas holiday" trainers.

Surely he must be inundated with free ones? Wrong. "I like buying them. It's like getting shoes, or getting owt for free, like downloading, it's wrong." But at 46, he says his trainer days are numbered. Gallagher once spent a drunken night with Paul Weller when the pair "scientifically worked out that the cut-off age is 50 for wearing trainers".

It is not just fashion that Gallagher dwells on. Institutions like the NHS and welfare system were created "when England had a massive empire and the country was rich," he says. "Our country is not rich any more." New Labour "killed politics" and there is "nothing left to vote for," he adds. "They proved themselves to be the same as the Conservatives, they killed politics in a way."

The former Oasis star has played with his High Flying Birds since Oasis broke up in 2009. After more than a decade together he married Sara MacDonald in 2011. The couple have two young sons, Donovan and Sonny, and Noel has a teenage daughter, Anais, from his first marriage to Meg Mathews.

There's no sign of reuniting with his estranged brother Liam but he seems happy. The singer agrees. He is "writing all the time" and says this is "one of the happiest" times in his life. "1995 to '97 would take some beating but yeah, it's good, man."

No Oasis Or Rolling Stones - For The Queen's 12 Minutes Of British Pop

The Beatles and Blur make the cut but there’s no room for Oasis and the Rolling Stones. A 12-minute medley of British rock’s greatest achievements will be performed at Buckingham Palace after the Queen requested a potted history of Britpop.

A four-day festival, with a “Best of British” theme, opens to the public on Friday in Buckingham Palace's gardens, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation.

The event will showcase British fashion, food, technological innovation and the arts. For the musical contribution, the Palace has chosen the chart-topping band The Feeling, to play a tightly-constructed medley featuring the most essential music of the Queen’s reign, which neatly encompasses the popular music era.

The Feeling, whose set list was approved “at the very heighest levels” by the Palace, have boiled down 60 years of artistic innovation and cultural reinvention into just seven songs.

The medley begins with The Beatles and revives the sonic crunch of The Kinks. It singles out the 70s rock operatics of The Who, the flamboyant showmanship of Queen with David Bowie and the artful state-of-the-nation addresses delivered by Pink Floyd and Blur.

There are unavoidable omissions, said Dan Gillespie Sells, frontman of The Feeling. “We had to leave out the Rolling Stones and we chose Blur over Oasis because they were the band who most influenced us,” he said. “We could have chosen from a million songs but we went for artists we liked and tried to cover all the bases inside 12 minutes. We didn’t want the medley to be too quickfire either, we restricted it to seven songs.”

The Queen was spared some controversial choices. “We couldn’t have the Sex Pistols’ God Save The Queen. I’d have liked to do an Elvis Costello song but it would have been too political,” said the singer.

“We had to send the set-list to the Palace for approval but that’s fair enough – the event is in her house.”

However some may wish to send The Feeling to the Tower for including their own hit, Love It When You Call as the climax of their Britpop history. “The palace asked us to include one of ours. It was the most played song on the radio so I think it’s fair enough,” explained Gillespie Sells.

The band debated whether Pink Floyd’s “We don’t need no education” lyric was appropriate for the Palace. “We wanted some Floyd but they don’t really do pop songs,” said Gillespie Sells. “This one clips along and helps with the pace of the medley.”

At least The Feeling, soon to release a new album called Boy Cried Wolf, did not use their valuable minutes to try out some new material. “We could have included a noughties song from Coldplay,” Gillespie Sells said. “But it’s a bit weird to cover a song by your contemporaries who are your friends.”

The Feeling will perform their medley each day during the festival and hope the Queen will attend one of the performances.

Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson, Katie Melua and Laura Wright will also perform at the festival of “innovation, excellence and industry”. Each day more than 6,000 ticket holders will attend the palace gardens which will be filled with more than 200 display stands exhibiting products and services.

Beady Eye Add Another Dublin Date

They stormed the stage at Glastonbury last weekend.

So it comes as no surprise that demand for Beady Eye’s Dublin concert has shot through the roof.

The band, fronted by former Oasis star Liam Gallagher, has now added a second Dublin date due to phenomenal demand, promoters MCD announced earlier today.

Beady Eye opened Glastonbury last weekend with a surprise set, with material from their Top 5 album. They also played two Oasis songs – ‘Rock n Roll Star’ and ‘Morning Glory’.

The band were already scheduled to play the Olympia in Dublin on November 7 – they will play their second date on November 8.

Beady Eye Announce New Single 'Shine A Light'

After scoring their highest UK Album Chart position to date with new album 'BE', Beady Eye have announced new single Shine A Light - out on August 19 through Columbia Records.

Beady Eye performed a much talked about secret slot at Glastonbury a couple of weekends ago, opening The Other Stage on Friday at 11am.

The band recently announced their November UK/Ireland headline tour. They will kick off proceedings on November 7 at Dublin’s Olympia before taking in Glasgow's Barrowlands, Leeds' O2 Academy, Newcastle's O2 Academy, two nights at Manchester's O2 Academy, Wolverhampton's Civic Hall, Portsmouth's Guildhall and finally London's Hammersmith Apollo on November 21.

The band are set to perform at T in the Park, V Festival, Benicissim, Ibiza Rocks and Japan's Summersonic this summer.

Liam Gallagher Mocks Robbie Williams’ Tips

Beady Eye star won’t let feud with rival end gracefully.

Liam Gallagher isn’t letting his feud with Robbie Williams come to an end gracefully.

The pair have been at each other’s throats in recent weeks after the former Oasis frontman called Robbie a “f***ing fat f***ing idiot”.

Robbie then criticised Beady Eye’s music – which really got Liam’s goat.

Liam snarled back: “We didn’t make a record to satisfy some requirements, this was our project. Robbie Williams said the record’s good but the songs have no chorus. I’d rather shoot myself in the balls than follow his advice.

“I do not listen to other music, so I don’t get my inspiration from anybody else, but maybe I should buy an iPod.”

Liam is also unhappy about the fact that his band had to change the cover of their new album, BE.

It featured a semi-naked picture of photographer Harry Peccinotti's wife lying on her back – and supermarkets said they’d refuse to stock it unless it was changed.

Liam said: “Everyone has nipples, they could have put tape on it if they had to.”

He’s also not been best pleased by some of the reviews it’s had.

He added: “Ultimately the only thing I care about is how people react to the live shows.”

Good mantra to live by.

On This Day In Oasis History...

"D'You Know What I Mean?" is a song by British rock band Oasis. It was the first single from their third album Be Here Now and was released on the 7th July 1997. It reached #1 in the UK singles chart, the 3rd Oasis song to do so. The song was written by Noel Gallagher. It was certified platinum for UK sales.

At the time "D'You Know What I Mean" was released, Oasis were at the height of their fame, and as a result, the single, along with the album, was highly anticipated. Upon its release it was critically and commercially successful.

The guitar chords on both the verse and the chorus are similar to the chords used for the Oasis single "Wonderwall" (F#m7/A/Esus4/Bsus4).

The song also shows more of Noel's influences. References include Bob Dylan ("Blood on the tracks and they must be mine"), and The Beatles ("Fool on the hill and I feel fine"), and even their own earlier work ("Don't look back in Anger "). The song also features a drum loop from N.W.A.

The Morse code in the background translates to include such sayings as "bugger all", "pork pies" and "Strawberry Fields Forever." Oasis haven't performed this song since 2002.




















B-Sides

One of the B-sides, "Stay Young", has become a popular Oasis song, so much so that fans voted it onto the B-sides collection The Masterplan - one of only two B-sides from the Be Here Now period which made the album. The song was originally intended to be the "Digsy's Dinner" of Be Here Now (the lighthearted novelty track, such as "Digsy's Dinner" on Definitely Maybe and "She's Electric" on (What's the Story) Morning Glory?), until Noel set it aside in favour of "Magic Pie". Gallagher claims not to be particularly fond of the track.

Interview

In a 1997 interview promoting Be Here Now, Noel Gallagher had the following to say about the first single: "I was going to make up some profound statement in the chorus but I couldn't come up with anything that fitted. Then I just thought "All my people right here, right now. D'You Know What I Mean? Yeah, Yeah" Very vague, very ambiguous, that'll do. Look in the mirror and wink while you're singing it and it's quite saucy. And I f***ing love that line, 'Coming in a mess, going out in style'. We were a bunch of scruffs from Manchester and we're going out in a Rolls Royce."

In another 1997 interview, this time on BBC, Noel Gallagher said: "I cant believe I wrote it, it's going to blow people away."

"The morse code in the background was inspired by Strawberry Fields. We got hold of a code book and tried to tap out 'Bugger All' to follow that line 'Don't look back cos you know what you might see'. But if anyone can tell me what we really said, please let me know. Profound lagerisms..."

Seven Ages of Rock

In an interview with the BBC for their documentary Seven Ages of Rock, Gallagher said of the song, "Its eight and a half minutes, the first single, the drums haven't fuckin' come in for two minutes- its all feedback!". He also says that he expected someone to ask them to edit the introduction to the song down, but such was their status in Britain, nobody did. They even performed the song on Top of the Pops, still playing most of the lengthy introduction.

The performance on Top of the Pops ended with a stage invasion by surrounding fans- the second of three stage invasions in the whole history of the show (the first was Nirvana and the last Symposium).

The single cover photograph, by Michael Spencer Jones and directed by Brian Cannon of Microdot, was taken in front of the 'Blind Steps', a staircase in Wigan so called because they run past the Blind Workshop, which can be seen to the left of the shot. The steps can still be found on Darlington Street. The shoot was shrouded in secrecy to protect mass media coverage, but newspaper The Wigan Evening Post got exclusive rights to cover the event and subsequently sold the photos to the Daily Mirror. At a lunchtime break, Liam Gallagher and sleeve designer Brian Cannon enjoyed a pint of beer in the nearby Crispin Arms pub by Birkett Bank.

The music video is filmed at Beckton Gas Works in London with many military helicopters and a strange landscape of concrete slabs and torn down buildings. Liam Gallagher is wearing a snorkel parka and sports a unique pair of sunglasses.

Ex Oasis Drummer 'Alan White' Is Selling His London Home For £7.5m

A mews house in Knightsbridge owned by Alan White, the Oasis drummer, has been put on the market for £7.5m.

The Oasis drummer Alan White is selling his London home for £7.5m.

The spacious mews property is in the heart of Knightsbridge, adjacent to Cadogan Square and only a short stroll from Harrods.

Decorated mainly in monochrome and metallic tones, it offers two to three bedrooms, with the master bedroom suite occupying the entire second floor.

As befits a musician's home, the house has state-of-the-art audio equipment throughout. A Sonos music zone system means that music can be played wirelessly in many of the rooms, while even the terrace has speakers.

White, 41, has lived in the property for over 10 years, and refurbished it from top to bottom. He said he loved the home, but that he and his partner Charlie had decided to bring up their family outside of London.

“This has been a great house for me, but after having our son we have decided to move to the country for more space for him to run around,” he said.

“When I decided to refurbish the property I wanted to make it really special so we’ve cut no corners and the end result is really something, even if I say so myself.”

Ollie Marshall, from estate agent Brooks Gordon, said: “As mews houses go, this is really one of the best. Clabon Mews is highly desirable because it’s a fantastic location in the heart of Knightsbridge where there is always a scarcity of good houses.

“Alan’s attention to detail has been amazing; even the garage has been fully wired for AV and has speakers concealed in the ceiling. It's very rock and roll."

White was the longest-serving drummer in Oasis's history, performing with the band for nine years. He left unexpectedly in 2004, and was replaced by Zak Starkey, the son of The Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr.

Oasis' Back Catalogue Will Soon Be Available On Spotify

Music Week reports that Oasis' entire catalogue is set to arrive on Spotify soon, as the band's management says it's "purely a matter of timing".

The band is one of the biggest holdouts in the UK since it launched in 2008. The post-Oasis work of both Noel and Liam Gallagher (High Flying Birds and Beady Eye) is on the service, but Ignition has not made track available from albums like Definitely Maybe, (What's The Story) Morning Glory? and Dig Out Your Soul.

Ignition Records director John Leahy said: "It is the case that historically the Oasis catalogue isn't on Spotify in the UK, but we're talking to Spotify at the moment to address that - and it will be addressed very soon."

Ignition co-owner Alec McKinlay, who has worked with Oasis since 1993, added: "It's purely a matter of timing. If you're working with artists in any part of the industry, you have to engage with fans in the way they want you to."

Other long time holdouts have recently appeared on the platform, including Metallica, Pink Floyd and The Eagles. Other bands not available include The Beatles, Led Zeppeln and AC/DC.

Ignition, meanwhile, is busy handling self-released albums from Primal Scream, Stereophonics and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. It uses a model similar to Oasis' Big Brother Recordings.
