Noel Gallagher Has Opened The Door For An Oasis Reunion

Noel Gallagher has opened the door for an Oasis reunion after saying: “If the Stone Roses can do it, then anyone can do it.”

The 45-year-old singer claimed only two months ago that he would not reunite with brother Liam “even if all the starving children in the world depended on it”.

But he now appears to have mellowed to the idea. In an exclusive interview with the Standard in which he unveiled the line-up for this year’s Teenage Cancer Trust gigs, he said: “I can understand the man in the street thinking, ‘That was such a huge thing, how can you walk away from it?’ I understand. When the Sex Pistols reformed I thought it was the greatest thing of all time.

“You can never predict what you’ll be doing in 20 years’ time, but I guess if everyone remains vaguely slim and has not gone bald, then it’s on the cards. Forever.

“But saying that, when I pick up a guitar I don’t think about an Oasis reunion. I’ve recently seen [guitarist] Gem [Archer], and Liam, and [drummer] Chris [Sharrock], and not one of them mentioned it.”

Gallagher is now taking a break from music and has taken up the mantle of curator of the TCT’s annual fundraising shows from The Who singer Roger Daltrey.

He said: “It’s not something I ever envisaged myself doing. But if I can help, I will help. I don’t know why it is, I never used to get asked to do f*** all in Oasis. Now, f****** hell! If I did everything I was asked to I would have an MBE. No question.

“I lost two uncles to cancer a few years back. It affects everyone. It’s the one thing that you hope science could sort out instead of, do we need to be sending robots to Mars? Do we need to be building bigger guns and bombs?”

Gallagher has produced a top line-up for the shows at the Royal Albert Hall in March. Performers will include Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon, Kasabian, Primal Scream and comedy stars Russell Brand and Noel Fielding.

Securing the artists was no mean feat. Gallagher added: “It’s funny, all the people that you think are gobshites and are the enemies of the Daily Mail, they’re the first people to say yes. Without a pause, Russell said yes. The people that you think are upstanding citizens, they’re the ones who wriggle out of it because they can’t be arsed.”

Labrinth, Kasabian and Rizzle Kicks are some of the names lined up for the 2013 Teenage Cancer Trust gigs.

The acts have been chosen by ex-Oasis star Noel Gallagher, who is curating next year's shows at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Other performers on the bill include Primal Scream, Blur's Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon, as well as comedy stints from Russell Brand and Noel Fielding.

"It's also now a charity that is very close to the hearts and minds of dozens of acts in the world of music."

The final show of the series will feature Labrinth and Rizzle Kicks on the same bill.

Support acts for all the shows will be announced soon.

Since it first began in 2000, the Teenage Cancer Trust series has raised £15 million for teenagers and young people with cancer.

Liam Gallagher's 'Pretty Green' Eyes Regent Street Flagship Store

Liam Gallagher’s menswear brand, Pretty Green, aims to open a flagship store on London’s Regent Street as part of a wider property review of its stores in the capital.

Pretty Green already operates two London stores on Carnaby Street and in Covent Garden. Sources told Retail Week that the retailer is mulling the closure of its Covent Garden store to prevent canibilisation.

A Pretty Green spokeswoman confirmed that the retailer is aiming to open a flagship and is eyeing Regent Street. She also said Pretty Green “might not keep all three stores if we opened on Regent Street”.

However, she insisted that the Covent Garden store is not being actively marketed.  “We have no plans to close anything at the moment,” she said. “We’re really happy with the performance across all stores. We’re looking for new stores all the time.

“We’re reviewing our portfolio. We’re looking for a flagship, possibly on Regent Street. We’re a really young brand and are keen to grow.”

The retailer has also signed Jesse Wood – the son of Rolling Star’s guitarist Ronnie Wood – as the face of the brand for two seasons.

Pretty Green debuted on Carnaby Street in 2010. It operates 12 stores, and recent openings include Leeds in June, Tokyo in July and Birmingham in October.

Noel Gallagher Blasts 'Dull' One Direction

Just when we thought there wasn’t anyone left on the planet who hadn’t been swept up in One Direction mania, straight-talking Noel Gallagher piped up.

The rock legend has poured scorn on today’s pop squeaks, saying that they are bland and boring.

Noel, 45, said: “Back in the 90s the Top 20 was mostly bands and now it’s all manufactured pop. They have got their careers to think about, so you don’t get anybody swearing or even admitting to smoking.”

Niall Horan, 19, from One Direction recently had to apologise to fans after being pictured having a sneaky cig.

But back in their heyday, Noel’s band Oasis were notorious for their hellraising antics and were regularly involved in feuds with other bands and celebs.

He said: “We were just being ourselves back in the day.

“If you are being yourselves nobody can touch you.”

The gobby Mancunian thinks stars now are too media trained and calculating, adding: “We never brushed anything under the carpet, so to speak. If I was asked a silly question I used to give a silly answer.”

He also isn’t a fan of social networking and slams celebs who use it: “I don’t understand the point of tweeting. Celebrities bastardise it. It’s a nonsense.”

And if you were holding out for a Gallagher fragrance, then you’ll be waiting a while.

“I’m not into that – having your own perfume. If I did, it would be called Toe Rag by Noel Gallagher.”

Lovely.

We don’t know about you, but we wish all celebrities could be as open and honest as Noel.

Alan McGee And Pete MacLeod In Talks To Make Sweet Music

Scottish singer / songwriter Pete MacLeod, seems set for even greater success on the back of his recent tour in Hamburg with gigs across the UK's 02 venues in  the coming months.

The musician and his work have long been admired by Alan McGee, who famously founded Creation records and now appears to be itching to set up another label, as Pete explains:

"Alan and I had been talking all week about him getting back into  the music business and starting another label, and I could tell he really had that fire in his belly again.

"We've talked about it before but he's told me his intentions are to get me signed to his new venture - I can't say much more than that at the moment but I do know that Alan won't be calling it Creation. I broke the news on twitter about us planning to work together and go back into the music business and it was almost instantly picked up by the press."

In the meantime, Pete is in the process off signing a single deal with a German label. Something that Alan McGee fully endorses in a recent email to Pete:

"Whatever form my new record company will take I can say I can't see it being called Creation.

"In the meantime, work with this dude and if you need me to come over and DJ the launch for single I am in as long term I want to work with you when we know what we are inventing as a business model."

It's good news for Pete following a year of turmoil while his father battled cancer. Pete had returned to Scotland when he heard the news and wrote 'Rolling Stone' for his dad who had inspired so much of his music. The single was sold as a way to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research UK; it was named BBC Radio Scotland single of the month by Janice Forsyth and entered into Q magazine's top 50 downloads of the month.

Sadly, Pete's dad lost his brave battle with the disease in June, but Pete has no doubt that his father's influence and guidance will live on in the form of his music for many years to come.

"My dad always believed in my music and never stopped encouraging me to write and play the music I love. While I'm sorry that he won't see this next stage in my career, I know he'll always be with me and that's what keeps me going."

Let There Be Love" is a song on the British rock band Oasis' sixth album, Don't Believe the Truth. Written by Noel Gallagher, it is the second Oasis song to feature Liam and Noel on lead vocals, the first being the B-Side "Acquiesce". It was released on November 28, 2005 as the third single from the album in the UK, and the second single in the US. It reached number two in the UK charts, capping a very successful year for the band. Many critics cited this song as proof that Oasis had returned to form we had seen in the mid-90's.

A demo for the track was recorded during demo sessions for Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. A bootleg of these demo sessions was leaked onto the Internet in early 2000. This track was given the unofficial title "It's A Crime" on many bootlegs as the track was unknown and unreferenced anywhere before then. The album version of the song is structurally almost exactly as the same as the demo with a slight change in melody in the part that Noel sings. The lyrics to the chorus remains intact, but the verses and bridge have totally rewritten lyrics.

The single version of the song omits the second verse and chorus.

A second, Noel-sung demo was released on the "Let There Be Love" DVD single. It has the same lyrics as the album version, and in fact the album version takes some elements from the demo such as the piano. It was probably recorded sometime in 2003 or 2004, prior to the main Don't Believe the Truth recording sessions.

The video is a montage of some of Oasis' live shows during the summer of 2005 including clips of the gigs at Hampden Park and the City of Manchester Stadium. The clips don't actually show the band playing 'Let There Be Love'.

The song has only been played live once, on an Italian radio show in late 2005.

Liam Gallagher Comes Out As Anti-Fur

Oasis singer's Pretty Green label has joined animal rights organisation PETA

The former Oasis frontman's fashion label Pretty Green is completely free of animal fur, and the company has now joined animal rights charity PETA's list of fur-free fashion labels.

In an e-mail sent to PETA, Pretty Green's chief executive officer confirmed that the company has a strict no-fur policy and that it will now label any faux-fur trim on its garments.

"We are delighted to add Liam to the list of truly talented visionaries and trendsetters who are able to design stylish, fashionable and popular clothing without the use of fur," says PETA's Senior Programme Manager Yvonne Taylor.

Gallager's a long proponent of animal rights. After reportedly signing up as the face of charity Pup Aid back in 2010 he told The Sun he'd be a crusader for dachshunds: "Extinction of sausage dogs? I will prevent that! When I’m back in England I am gonna buy 900 of them. I am gonna prevent them from downfall."

However, he was less doting on his four-legged friends when speaking to NME earlier this year. "I like winding me dogs up," he said. "I just stand there with the lead, shaking it for ages until they're shitting and peeing all over the floor. And I'm stood there going: 'Walkies!' Then I sit back down again."

Noel Gallagher Plays Guns And Roses At Rolling Stones O2 After Party

Noel Gallagher was up to his usual tricks at the Rolling Stones after-party — as he whipped a guitar off the wall to entertain revellers.

The former Oasis star, 45, was warned by staff at London’s O2 Arena for taking a memorabilia guitar so he could play Guns N’ Roses classic Sweet Child O’ Mine for his pals.

Noel, who has gone solo since 2009, had gathered with other celebs — including The Sun’s Gordon Smart — in a bar after the Stones gig when he had a run-in with security.

And he didn’t stay out of trouble for long — staff had to step in again later when he tried to smuggle a surfboard out of the party.

Noel has a history of taking home “souvenirs”. At a Brit Awards after-party in February, he left with a giant novelty shoe.

A picture of Noel with the guitar can be found here.

With a first name like Noel, there's a good chance Christmas is a fun time for the rock star.

And Mr. Gallagher certainly enjoyed a jingle bell rock with his family in Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland.

The 45-year old rocker took his son Donovan, 5, along with his partner Sara MacDonald to the launch of the London attraction.

They chose a colourful attraction that the little one couldn't be more excited to ride, and his father seemed just as eager.

Other famous faces enjoying the new Christmas park were Rod Stewart and Nell McAndrews.

The Sailing singer brought his wife Penny Lancaster, 41 and his two kids - one-year old Aiden and six-year old Alastair.

It's not known whether Noel bumped into any of the other celebrities but Penny certainly crossed paths with Nell as they both took their sons on the helter skelter.
It's hard to place Noel's recent comments on drug use with this picture of familial bliss.

For whilst the Gallagher clan enjoyed some traditional Christmas merriment, he told Alan Carr on his pre-recorded Catty Man TV show that he wouldn't mind his kids using narcotics 'in moderation.'

He sparked a flurry of Twitter chat with people weighing in on his progressive comments.

And he was met with criticism by users such as Fleetstreetfox who tweeted her article with the comment, 'Noel Gallagher - not the sharpest tool in the box. Probably all those drugs'.

But the thick-skinned rocker would hardly let a tweet like that ruin his festive fun.

Check out the pictures here.

Noel Gallagher's Walking In A Winter Wonderland

Oasis legend Noel Gallagher showed his softer side by taking son Donovan to a new Winter Wonderland attraction.

The Wonderwall songwriter, 45, enjoyed playing Daddy with partner Sara MacDonald at the launch in Hyde Park, London.

Also having fun were rocker Rod Stewart, 67, wife Penny Lancaster, 41, and their brood.

The couple’s two sons Alastair, six, and one-year-old Aiden got stuck into the festive activities. Penny and Aiden had a whale of a time on the helter skelter, while Nell McAndrew also went along for the ride with son Devon, six.

Other famous faces at the event included X Factor stars James Arthur, 24, Christopher Maloney, 34, and boy band Union J.

Model Kate Price, 34, and her daughter Princess Tiaamii, five, were also there.

Winter Wonderland will be open until January 13 and the attractions include a “Magical Ice Kingdom” of sculptures, a circus, ice rink, rides and a chance to visit Santa.

Noel Gallagher Refuses To Take Driving Test

This makes me feel slightly better about being a remedial driver.

The 45-year-old rocker - who has sons Donovan, five, and Sonny, two, with wife Sara MacDonald, as well as 12-year-old daughter Anais with former spouse Meg Matthews - is being forced to take lessons by his spouse, but is so determined not to legally be allowed behind the wheel, he says he will deliberately fail if he ever sits his driving test.

He said: "My lovely wife is insisting I take driving lessons. She said, 'Who is going to take the boys to the football?' And I am like, 'Well you are.' But I have sussed it, you see. If I ever qualify for a test I will deliberately fail. I would rather be in the passenger seat. I would crash a lot of cars. I have had 40-odd years looking out the window."

The former Oasis guitarist also admitted his rock 'n' roll lifestyle means he isn't too keen on his sons reaching their teens but he won't advise them to stay away from smoking and drugs completely - so long as they remember one thing... Spouting his nuggets on Alan Carr: Chatty Man tonight (10.00pm, Channel 4), he said: "I am dreading them in their teens. My attitude is everything in moderation, but I have told them, 'You will never be as cool as your dad'." Ah, every teenager's red rag. While you're at it, tell them they'll never amount to anything and watch the megalomania set in.

As it happens, Noel's partying days appear to be behind him, what with the rough heads he gets nowadays: "I find hangovers dreadful now. Terrible. It's called age. I usually wake up still drunk and when I go out to get the papers I wonder which way the traffic is going (no wonder he doesn't want to drive). The longest bender I have been on? I went three days without sleep once and ended up in hospital but that was a good party."

I won't tell you the longest stint I've stayed up, it's not advisable. The one nugget I will dispense, however, is the following. Learn to drive before you get pregnant, Noel. Baby brain is a b*tch. That and lessons aren't that productive when you mount a pavement trying to move the car out of your estate, not once but twice, and then you end up crying for two hours 'cause there's no way you'll ever be able to drive the baby anywhere in an emergency.

The video below is from November 23rd 2008, when Liam and Noel Gallagher carried their friend Ricky Hatton's belts into the ring before his win against Paulie Malignaggi in Las Vegas.

After Hatton's win Noel congratulated his friend by planting a kiss on him.

Hatton had previously said that, "When I think of the most important things in my life, there's my family first and Campbell my son, then I've got boxing, next comes Manchester City, then it's Oasis."

Noel Gallagher: You Won't Be Cool Like Me

Noel Gallagher isn’t a man to mince his words, even when his own kids are concerned.

The outspoken fella has told his sons Donovan, five, and Sonny, two, they’ll never be cool rock ’n’ roll stars like him.

Chatting about being a dad, Noel, 45, said: “I have a mug which says Greatest Dad in the World, so I must be pretty good. My wife says I am f***ing useless, so I guess I am somewhere in the middle.

“I am dreading them in their teens though. My attitude is everything in moderation, but I have told them: ‘You will never be as cool as your dad.’”

Although he did reveal that Donovan likes listening to acid house and Dizzee Rascal before bed. Sounds pretty cool for a five-year-old.

Meanwhile, Noel admits his mum is desperate for him and brother/nemesis Liam to call a truce.

He tells Alan Carr on tonight’s Chatty Man: “Me and Liam have not spoken. I’m busy. We did text each other last Christmas because our mam made us.

“We are not a Christmas family. I hate Christmas. I am not a people person. Christmas and people wearing hats ... nah.

“I did smash his guitar. yes. I put my foot through his guitar and then he threw it at me.” He also admits Liam, 40, decided to call their band Oasis and he was never a fan of the name.

Noel sniped: “He came up with the name. I was not arsed.

“It’s a s*** name for a band anyway.”

Oasis fans are holding out for a reunion, especially as their 20th anniversary will be in 2014.

But it seems unlikely.

Dashing the hearts of fans everywhere Noel revealed: “It would take Liam or myself to be very skint and I know that is not going to happen.

‘The last time I saw Liam he didn’t say much. The day will pass and people will realise the anniversary just has not happened.”
